Officer and Employee of the Month – April 2018
Congratulations to ASD Corporal Nathan Hibbs and from DUI/DRP Lashandra Hereford, the DCSO Officer and Employee of the Month!
Also, earning their Special Achievement ribbons were Corporals Jerry Ramsey and Jarrod Griffy. According to the Metro General ER night staff, both officers displayed a “calm demeanor and steadfast manner” when dealing with an extremely difficult (mental health related) patient. Kudos to these officers for their above and beyond commitment to keeping the patient and staff safe!
Congratulations to Warrants Officer Anita Welch! This morning she received our to Exemplary Service coin for being our foremost online advocate! She helps us spread the word about the great work done by our employees and staff on a daily basis!

Mental Health Summit
On March 5, 2018, the Sheriff’s Office hosted a Mental Health Summit. Professionals from across the country came together to discuss one of the most urgent topics facing law enforcement today. Thanks to all who attended this summit.

Congratulations to our Officer/Employee of the Month: Correctional Sergeant Marcus Fielden (6.5 years) & from CDM Treatment Jonathan Hines (3 years)!
Kudos to our CDM Chief of Security Barry Kidd. He recently became the latest Davidson County Sheriff’s Office employee to earn the title of Certified Jail Manager by the American Jail Association.
Job well done Cpl. Vongsamphanh and Cpl. Baynham! Both earned our Special Achievement Ribbon for their actions when dealing with a verbally and physically abusive inmate during medical transport. Both corporals demonstrated the experience, foresight, and professionalism needed to keep this incident contained and limit injuries.
Finally, many of our active employees (32) who worked at the recently closed “Workhouse,” when it still had inmates, received a building keepsake.

Also honored this month is Corporal Brian Eichstaedt. He is the latest officer to earn the title of Certified Jail Officer by the American Jail Association.
Sober Ride New Year’s
A great start to 2018 with hundreds of free rides given on New Year’s Eve! Thank you to all employee volunteers and the nearly 250 people that took advantage of our Sober Ride program.
Battle of the Badges 2019
The 2019 Music City Battle of the Badges put up record numbers, with DCSO’s finest leading the way, ALL THE WAY, with 399 pints donated! Nashville’s first responders donated a record 933 pints, and both Sheriff Hall and Chief Swann donated every pint of their agencies’ blood in tribute to MNPD Officer John Anderson.
Thanks to all who donated… together we saved 2,799 lives here in Davidson County!
Battle of the Badges News Conference
The news conference for the upcoming Music City Battle of the Badges blood drive was held at our Sheriff’s North Complex. The smack talk this year was overshadowed by Steve Underwood, the Titans President and CEO, upping the ante and announcing that the winning team will receive 100 game tickets, his suite for a game with 6 tickets, AND the winning team will be the 12th Titan at an upcoming game!
